New Youth Football Director Announced

The SJYAA is proud to welcome to the Board our newest member, Mr. Eric Pratl.  Mr Pratl will serve as the new Director of Youth Football in St. Johns. This will be his ninth year with the program and he will be coaching the fifth grade football team as well.

Mr. Pratl is a former Redwing who started playing football in St. Johns in the fourth grade as a member of the St. Johns Falcons. He was a member of the Redwings Varsity Football Team, class of 2001.    He has three sons currently in St. Johns sports. Keegan 18 (wrestling, football) Bryce 12 (football, basketball, baseball) and Brody 10 (football, basketball, baseball).

Mr. Pratl is a Sergeant with the Lansing Police Department and serves on the Community Services Unit and as SWAT Team Supervisor.  He is also the President of the Lansing Police Athletic League (Non-profit organization that develops athletic programs for at risk Lansing area youth).

Our Goals for the program:

  • Teach proper fundamental skills to play the game safely.
  • Encourage sportsmanship and teamwork
  • Build character and hard work ethics both on and off the field
  • Be a positive role model and motivator
