Haslett Invitational

“This was a reschedule from mid-January so a lot of teams had to scramble to make this Invite happen. There was good competition and we felt our guys had a really good meet. Our relays swam well and we had improved times from most of the guys. Our individual events were equally impressive. We let the guys pick their individual events and the coaches put together the relays. At this point in the season it’s important to get them in different events and hopefully keep them fresh going into our last few meets of the season. All of the boys had good performances and that’s what we were hoping for at this meet,” said Coach Kim Brewbaker. All of the Redwing’s “A” relays placed in the top three and most of the team brought home medals. In addition, the St. Johns swimmers turned in 18 season best performances. “I think this was a fun meet for the boys and they got to compete in events they normally wouldn’t be swimming. It also gives us a look at where some of them could be used to our advantage in our upcoming League meet. We will start cutting back on the yardage they’ve been doing and getting the boys more rest in the hopes of very strong performances at our Championship meet,” added Brewbaker. St. Johns next competition will be the CAAC Blue division Championships hosted by DeWitt at St. Johns High School. Swimming and diving prelims will be Friday Feb. 28 and finals on Saturday Feb. 29. Times to be announced.

On Saturday Feb. 8 St. Johns boys swimming and diving team traveled to Haslett High School for the Haslett Invitational. This meet features some of the top teams in the area. Bits O’ Tid By Dan Ward

Bits O’ Tid By Dan Ward There wasn’t a whole lot happening on the wrestling front this week. St. Johns hosted a JV Jamboree, and the varsity boys made a road trip to Three Rivers. With a slightly lighter schedule, I thought it would be fun to share some interesting wrestling trivia—facts that I definitely…
