Top 50 Girls MS Cross Country Times

Miriam Kloha has ran cross country for the St. Johns Middle School the last two seasons.  Her fastest time ranks her #10 on the all time Redwings list!  Thank you Miriam for sharing with us, we look forward to the upcoming Soccer and Basketball seasons.  Go Redwings!

What was the 7th grade cross country season like for you?

I think the 7th grade season went pretty well for me. This season was different because we could only have a limited number of runners which meant we could only have dual meets.

What was your favorite meet to compete in?

My favorite meet was the Top Ten Meet held at St. Johns Middle School because we were allowed to have 7 teams competing.

What is it about running that you enjoy?

I enjoy running because it gives me time to relax and think and it gives me time to myself.

Do you play any other sports?  Does cross country improve your performance in that sport?

Yes, I play outdoor soccer for St. Johns Soccer Club, indoor soccer for St. Johns Soccer Club, basketball and track.

Yes, I think cross country improves my performance because it makes me a faster person and I can out run the other team.

Even though it was different, how did your coaches make the year fun?

Our coaches made it fun because they were being hopeful and helpful cheering us up and on.

Who are your role models in running?

My role models for running are the US Summer Olympic athletes.

Do you have teammates that make you better or run faster?  Have you helped or mentored any teammates?

Yes I do have teammates who make me a better runner and encourage me to run faster, in particular a 6th grade girl named Ava Schafer.

Yes, our team is very supportive of each other. Before every start we tell each other to run hard. At the last meet we were chanting Top 15 encouraging our whole team to place in the top 15.

What one characteristic (other than speed or strength) makes you successful at Cross Country.

I think one characteristic that I have is being hopeful, believing all the way that I can finish the race makes me successful.

What do you do for fun when you’re not running?

I like to bicycle, play board games, play soccer, and watch tv shows.
